Offset Paths in Illustrator
The offset paths feature in Illustrator and After Effects allow you to shrink a shape while maintaining it's true shape and proportion. This is similar to using an "inset' in Blender.
In this example, I needed to create a pickguard for the guitar. Duplicating and scaling the shape will cause a loss in proportion and will no longer match. By using the offset path, I am insetting the shape, just shrinking it, therefore resulting in a perfectly matched shape.
