Puppet Pin Deform Link to Null
I wanted to anchor the chain to the preloader frame so it would follow its movements. The chain is deformed with puppet pins. I created the constraint by linking the bottom puppet pin to a null. The frame is also parented to this null.

The null is then animated to create the swaying motion. The chain will then deform and follow the frame automatically. If the null was to be repositioned the chain would stretch and follow.

Oh no some math!?
Yes. Before I learned about DUIK's parent constraint (which may have been a better solution although not certain if it would've worked) — we have to link the puppet pin to the null via expression.

Now that I think about it more, the DUIK zero feature would've also be helpful... The expression in the above screenshot calculates the offset so the puppet pin is in the same world space position as the null.
